“Who Killed the King?” is a site-specific scavenger hunt designed as a team-building experience for employees at Novo Nordisk’s Favrholm campus. It combines escape-room mechanics with non-linear gameplay, encouraging collaboration through puzzle solving and spatial exploration across indoor and outdoor environments.

Developed by a team of four at Solve A Mystery AB, my role focused on designing the puzzles, shaping the interactive experience, and producing visual and physical materials. Key requirements from Novo Nordisk included ensuring the experience could be reproduced using a standard A4 printer and that it aligned with their corporate identity. These constraints informed decisions around format, graphics, and production. The experience was iteratively tested with different groups to refine clarity, navigation, and difficulty.

Players begin by opening a wooden box containing a map, eight character envelopes, and a set of tools. Each envelope leads to a specific campus location, where participants explore, uncover clues, and solve puzzles through observation and teamwork. Tools include colored filters, flashlights, engraved wooden discs, and character tokens.

The experience concludes on the back of the box, which functions as a game board where players reconstruct the sequence of events and identify who left the scene first. All components were designed and prototyped through an iterative process, with a focus on material quality, durability, and visual clarity.
